PS 214 Sec G - Group 2: Week 1

PS 214 Sec G - Group 2: Week 1: "Doctor Martin Luther King is insisting his fellow citizens don't just sit by and be treated the way they are. This speech is a response to t..."

This speech is all about being treated as equals. As stated already, this speech is in response to the Rosa Parks arrest for refusing to give up her seat on the bus to a white man. In this speech Dr. King says that he needed to find a way to express his feelings for African Americans to stand up for themselves, but do it in a manor that stays within Christian bounds. Dr. King addresses that Rosa Parks is a fine Christian that did nothing wrong and was only arrested because she refused to give up her seat. This was obviously a problem and Dr. King wanted to tell people that this issue needs to be taken care of without innocent people getting hurt. He wants to gain justice on the buses in the city. He says as they go forward they've got to work together and it starts that day in Montgomery.
